Zotac announces GTX 580 AMP2!

VGA maker Zotac's just launched its new AMP2! card, a custom cooled GTX 580 with 3GB of memory!

The GTX 580 may not be the top of Nvidia's line anymore, but it's still a powerful card not to be sneezed at. It gets even more grunt, now, courtesy of Zotac and its AMP2! edition of the card.

Apart from a new custom high performance cooler, the new card also boasts a giant 3GB of RAM. That's double the amount of the reference GTX580 - not a figure to be sneezed at. However, the card's pretty big, taking two and half expansion slots.

Here's the raw stats:

  • New ZOTAC GeForce GTX 580 AMP2!Edition graphics card
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 GPU
  • Engine clock: 815 MHz
  • 512 unified shaders
  • Shader clock: 1630 MHz
  • 3GB GDDR5 memory
  • Memory clock: 4100 MHz
  • 384-bit memory interface
  • Dual dual-link DVI-I & mini-HDMI outputs
  • PCI Express 2.0 interface (Compatible with 1.1)
  • Microsoft DirectX 11 & OpenGL 4.1 compatible
  • NVIDIA CUDA technology with CUDA C/C++
  • NVIDIA PhysX technology
  • NVIDIA SLI (3-way) and 3D Vision Surround ready
  • ZOTAC Boost Premium software bundle included

The card also comes with a copy of Assassins' Creed: Brotherhood.

Am I right in thinking that AMP! editions tend to have horrible idling noise levels, or was that just a bad BIOS setup that I'm thinking of?

it looks like a nice card, but i would love a reference (for SLI) card with 3GB from gigabyte/asus etc.

that would be awesome!

@jdog - Have you checked out the ASUS GTX580 DirectCU II graphics card?

@Dazerath - the Asus DCU 2 is triple slot card (so its not good for SLI) and it only had 1.5GB of vram as well.

EVGA us going to release a 3GB refrence 580 card soon, hopefully the other card makers will take notice and make some of thier own.

Pretty sweet!
I like the 3 way Sli reference! you would be hard pressed to fit 3 in a case, or even most motherboards. lol.
But still nice oc, and would be pretty tasty and easily grunty enough in SLi..
