Greetings dudes! This weeks Friday links star Torchwood, X-Men: First Class, a bunch of geeky lists and two most excellent dudes...
You know how we usually approach any news of revived 80’s awesomeness with a high degree of scepticisim? Well, we just can’t do it this time. We’re sorry: we want a third Bill & Ted movie (note: not a remake). We can’t help it. Sure, it’ll probably be terrible and destroy our memories of the original, but… it might not be? Maybe? Please?
Speaking of things that may be terrible (or just really, really silly), there’s a trailer floating around the internet for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Stan Lee’s upcoming animated series, The Governator. We’re still not sure that this isn’t some sort of drawn-out April fools joke, but check it out anyway.
Ever been reading a book or watching a movie and wanted to know more about the geography of the fictional place you’re immersing yourself in? Trust us, you’re not alone. And this is why someone created this site. We do warn you: it’s probably totally safe for work but as you’ll see from the URL, those with sensitive eyeballs should expect some swearing.
Torchwood may not have gripped the sci-fi communities collective imaginations in quite the same fashion that Doctor Who has, but, you have to admit: Captain Jack is pretty damn cool. In this clip, he talks about what to expect from the next season of the show. Apparently, there may be more sex. Hands up if you’re surprised.
Time now for a couple of listicles that took our fancy this week. Firstly, there’s this countdown of the 10 most awesome fake martial arts the fictional world has bestowed upon us – we do think Quack-Fu should have rated higher, but what can you do? Then we come to the AV Club’s countdown of 13 Comic Book Characters with the most ridiculously convoluded backstories, which is also worth a read.
And finally on the listicle front, this look at which comic book character is the greatest maker of all time. And what do we love most about these lists? The, ahem, robust debate they bring out in the most passionate comic book fans among us.
We admit it: we’ve fallen a little bit behind on bringing you the latest photos, promo posters, video clips and trailers from the upcoming X-Men: First Class. We apologise. And in apology, we offer up this reimagining of the opening sequence, as done 60’s style.
And finally, just to creep you out before the weekend comes, we present: geminoids meeting their human dopplegangers. Sure, in theory, a robot double is a great idea for those long, dull afternoons in the office, but this … gives us the shudders.
