More Brink news - Steam features and specs

Good news PC gamers - we've got Brinks hardware specs, and details on the game's Steamworks feature-set.

So, if you like your PC, and you like your games intergrated into Steam, and you're looking forward to Brink... we got some news for you.

Bethesda's just announced the game's integration with Valve's Steamworks, and that means we can look forward to the following:

  • Steam Achievements
  • VOIP
  • Challenge Leaderboards
  • Valve Anti Cheat
  • Dedicated Servers
  • Friends Support (including invites and joining session in progress)
  • Steam Cloud (for save data)

Dedicated servers? Yes please. And what's more, Bethesda's also announced the minimum and recommended specs for Brink. Here they are:

Minimum Specs
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz or equivalent
Memory: 2GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA 8800GS / AMD Radeon HD 2900 Pro or equivalent
OS: Windows XP (SP3)/Vista/Windows 7
Hard Drive: 8GB of free space

Recommended Specs
Processor: Intel Quad Core i5
Memory: 3GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 / AMD Radeon HD 5850
OS: Windows XP (SP3)/Vista/Windows 7
Hard Drive: 8GB of free space

Brink's out in just four week's time, on all major platforms.

at lest the recommended specs start looking like some decent PC hardware may be required to run at full settings... I've been feeling as if my last upgrade was a bit of a waste.

Those specs do look high, hopefully the visual effects scale well above the console graphics. What's annoying is when you up all the graphic settings and you can hardly see the difference but it takes a huge toll on the performance. It's a fairly mature engine so we will see.

@alexdtree - Did they make a 5950 or are you talking about the 5850? if so then I would suggest the 6850, not much difference in price :)
