The PlayStation Network comes back, with gifts

There's a special Welcome Back package waiting for PlayStation users when they log onto the just restored PSN. Yay?

So, following the biggest personal security breach of all time, Sony's PlayStation Network is back up as of yesterday. At the same time, there's more than one person home 'ill' at Haymarket Media... coincidence?

Regardless, anyone logging onto the PSN from Australia, New Zealand and a handful of other territories will be pleased to find some gifts waiting for them. Here's the details from straight from the PlayStation blog:

Two PS3 games from the following list:

  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Infamous*
  • Wipeout HD/Fury
  • Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
  • Dead Nation*

For those with PSP accounts, you will also be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list:

  • LittleBigPlanet PSP
  • ModNation PSP
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation*

- 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PS Plus subscribers.
- Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will be given 60 days free subscription.
- For existing Music Unlimited subscribers, you will be given 30 days free subscription.

Not bad, but then again you'd expect some pretty special consideration following a breach of this magnitude. For more details on the Welcome Back gift offer, check out the blog entry.

What do you think, guys - is this enough?

Awright, Dead Nation and LBP here I come! Just gotta get the PS3 to my folks' place to use their interwebz...

I don't own any of those games, so for me it's a good deal. Also PS Plus = cheaper DLC and DL games. Sweet.

Giving away free games wont hurt them much. I'm more concerned about my personal details etc being secure

If someone uses your credit card, you don't have to pay for it and most of the time they let you keep the reward points.

I really think the gifts are a side part I would rather a guarantee that this wouldn't happen again, a lot of ppl couldn't play Portal 2 or Brink online during this down time.
Also they are guaranteeing your financial security which I feel is more important than the freebies.

Lol have barely used my PS3 in the last 6 months (well, ever really). Didn't even know PSN was out until I started seeing the stories pop up. Might be time to fire it up and get some free games. Any recommendations for which ones to claim? Actually I can claim another 2 on my parents PS3. Which one SHOULDN'T I get?
