Gallery: We score some early shots of MSI's upcoming 9-series motherboard, the 990FXA-BD80. AMD fans, check it out!

It's always nice to get a sneak peak of upcoming hardware, and our latest generous offerer of tech-that's-soon-to-be-released is MSI. The PC vendor's just shiftily sent us some shots of of its soon to be released AMD motherboard, the 990FXA-BD80.

This shiny new 9-series board boasts automatic OC-Genie overclocking (which MSI claims can boost performance by up to 248 per cent at a click), three-way SLI and four-way CrossFire graphics, and hi-end solid caps.

The 9-series chipset will be released in two weeks.

SLI and crossfire? only 1 LAN port. Still nice. looking forward to this release. money is in the bank :P

OC Genie fails for me. But that's not uncommon when I try to use cool features.
For some random reason I was interested in the lug inside the USB 2.0 ports being different from each other (ignoring the e-SATA/USB port). I have some guesses as to why, but they don't make a lot of sense to me.

Exactly how slow would somethings default clocks have to be to 'improve performance by 248%'? I do love marketing :)

Actually to be fair was looking at this on XS, and someone pointed out that that 248& figure could very legitimately (nomeclature aside) be OC-Genie using ACC to unlock two cores & giving each a 24% clock boost.

*Alledgedly* this board was originally supposed to tbe the 990FX 'Big Bang' model.
