EA announces Battlefield 3: Physical Warfare Limited Edition

We're really very excited about DICE's upcoming release, and thus, we can't help but be rather excited about this little piece of news...

As you may have gathered from even a very quick glance at the latest issue of our fine magazine (or a cursory browse around this here site), we’re rather excited about the impending release of Battlefield 3 – and if our ‘most read’ stats are anything to go by, we’re not the only ones.

And today we’re feeling like we’re one giant leap closer to that as-yet-unconfirmed release date, with EA announcing that the Physical Warfare Limited Edition is now available for pre-order exclusively through GAME.

The Physical Warfare edition gets you a whole stack of in-game goodness, including, on the weapons front, a Type 88 light machine gun with bipod, a stealth-enhancing SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor, lethal armour-piercing flechette ammo for your DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun, and, helpfully, day one access to the DAO shottie itself.

There’s also the Back to Karkand expansion pack, that takes four of Battlefield 2’s maps – including Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsula – and recreates them with Dice’s Frosbite 2 Engine, so you can experience them in a whole new way.

The Physical Warfare Limited edition is available for pre-order from GAME across all three platforms and, if you’re an Xbox 360 person, is currently going for $10 less than the standard edition of the game. We’re not sure how long that will last though, so best check it out right away.

If you get it through this GAME place, will it work all good through Steam? Also, is it likely there are going to be even awesome-er versions of the game to come? This is one game I am actually going to preorder for the first time since FEAR, I think.

I asked my local GAME store about it yesterday and they knew nothing about it.. I had to show them this article before they'd believe me!

@Harmonic Cacophony
I'm pretty sure the DRM for the game is Steam based. So yes, it should work through Steam. Every version from every store should. Unless I'm wrong that is.
