Pigs fly as Duke Nukem Forever goes gold

The impossible has happened - Duke Nukem Forever is actually now, at long bloody last. Finished.

It's done.

Duke Nukem Forever, as of the release we received at 10.05 this moring, is finished. The journey that started fifteen years ago is over.

"Duke Nukem Forever is the game that was once thought to be unshipppable, and yet here we are, on the precipice of history,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “Today marks an amazing day in the annals of gaming lore, the day where the legend of Duke Nukem Forever is finally complete and it takes that final step towards becoming a reality.”

The game is now super-confirmed for a June 10 release, with a demo coming on June 3. Of course... finished does not necessarily equate to good, and having played a couple of hours of singleplayer and multiplayer, we're just not that jazzed by the news.

But hey, maybe those final weeks of polish will make a huge difference, right?

I'd like to see DN regress back to his platforming roots. No need to spend years on it, just make it a basic 2D scroller with witty DNisms thrown in for good measure.

About Bloody time. Gee look at all my grey hair just waiting for it. Hopefully something doesn't stuff up for yet another delay.

Against all reason I will probably end up buying this. I was 15 when I heard it was in development, and I'm nearly 30 now. I demand to play the game my 15yo self was excited about.

I don't think that they will only allow 2 guns at once in the final version.

I have a strong feeling that was just for the demo that people have been playing.

And I'm hoping that it won't be dissapointing.

If its just mindless shooting I'll be happy. That's all I'm looking for in DNF

Anticipation has been replaced by fear. I don't want to get emotionally hurt by this.

15 Years? We should rip the developers heads off and shit down their necks (See it may be 15 years ago but I can still remember how the 1st D.N. ended!)

You know, I'm doubtfull of how good this game is, but I feel exactly the same as Lambo. I was 14 when PCPP did a mock review of this game as an April Fools joke, I've been waiting for it ever since the E3 2001 trailer.

And I agree with Periander - Manhatten PRoject was a great little game, and something similar I think would be very successful, particularly on mobile platforms.
