Friday Linky Fun

And just like that, it’s Friday all over again, and that means links. This week: Star Wars (of course), X-Men (of course) and … other stuff.

We’re going to kick off this week with some gaming news that might please a few of you, but is probably more likely to fill you with dread. Yes, apparently, someone is making a game based on Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Now, in theory, this is a great in theory. But – say it with me folks – in theory, Communism works.

More likely to please is this weeks double-dose of Star Wars silliness. First up, the story gets a whole new (illiterate) audience with this pictogram. And then there’s this collection of popular logos that have been given the Star Wars treatment. Both those links are thanks to the lovely folks at the Periodic Table of Awesome. Awesome.

The next season of Torchwood has been creating a lot of buzz, and with the release of this teaser trailer, it’s sure to create a lot more. This season’s got a smaller budget and more Americans, but we’re still rather excited for it.

X-Men First Class is edging ever closer to release and – dare we say it – it’s looking like it might actually be pretty good. Den of Geek has this rather lengthy and far-reaching (and slightly spoileriffic, so you can’t say you weren’t warned) interview with the new guy at the helm, Matthew Vaughn. Will we all be cursing his name this time next month? Maybe, but for now, he’s ok.

And speaking of Big Summer Blockbusters – US Summer, of course – this week saw the release of another TV spot for Jon Favreau’s Cowboys and Aliens, which we’re quite looking forward to, and more clips for Transformers: Dark (not-side) Of the Moon, which we’re sure someone is looking forward to, somewhere.

There’s also today’s release of this rather amusing Muppety take on the teaser-trailer for The Hangover Part II, which also functions quite handily as a teaser trailer for the upcoming Muppets movie. Ah childhood, we miss you…

And finally, either last weeks rapture was a total bust, or we don’t know anyone good enough to be saved (which is not that unlikely), but it’s far from the first time. To better prepare your cynicism for next time (October, we hear), spend your weekend checking out this handy chart of apocalypse through the ages…

Ahhh Transformers 3. Even more stupid fun.

RotF was bad. Really bad. Probably the worst movie ever made. But you don't watch Transformers without resetting your mental age to ~12.

Bring it on!
