New Battlefield 3 art reveals two new maps for the LE release

Get a sneak peak at the prettiness of the Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsular maps in the pre-order pack for Battlefield 3's Limited Edition.

Reasons we are looking forward to Battlefield 3:

  • Real Next Gen Gaming: Seriously, FrostBite 2 is looking like it will be able to one-shot any other shooter coming out this year, and then tea-bag the corpse. Not that it will, though, because Battlefield players are above that shit.
  • Large Maps: Modern warfare (not capital 'w' warfare) takes place over a vast area, not a jumbled collection of rooms and tiny alleys.
  • Nostalgia: Yes, it counts, and the art we're seeing of the maps that are coming in the pre-order bonus for the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition are seriously pinging the nostalgia centers in our brains.

The two latest images to be released are from the classic maps Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsular, and they are looking the business. From what we've seen of the game's engine, we're figuring this art isn't far off from what the game will look like...

What wait?

I'm confused. I just did some scratching around to pre order the game, so I looked at JB's and EB and it was $108. Then I looked at a couple of U.S. sites and it was $56 (aud) so pretty close to half price for the same thing.

WTF is with that?

Guess I'll get mine from the U.S. then, sorry local retailers who employ Aussies, if it was only the 10% gst then I'd buy it from you but you really need to have a chat to your wholesalers.

Getting mine from the US, UK or Asia also

Not willing to support Aussie price gauging / extortion
