XBox 360 owners get one more thing to gloat about as the giant ISP officially declares Foxtel on 360 unmetered content.
XBox 360 owners have had every reason to feel pretty pleased with themselves in recent times – mostly because their network didn’t get hacked and leave them stranded without online access for a month. They can also be smug about the fact that their credit card details haven’t been – as far as anyone knows – compromised in recent times.
And now the people at Telstra and Foxtel have announced that 360 users who have signed up to the Foxtel on Xbox 360 service get the good news that they will no longer be charged for Foxtel data if they’re Telstra BigPond broadband customers.
Now, we’re not sure how many of you are Telstra BigPond customers, but given that Telstra did take out the Atomicans’ Choice ISP title last year, we’re guessing there are quite a few. And if you’re a big consumer of (legally obtained) television who prefers to get Foxtel through your gaming console this might just be incentive to switch over, so it’s not a bad move by the telco.
They’ve also announced another sweetener in the form of six BigPond TV channels being added to the service for no extra cost from July 1. If you like sport – and by ‘sport’, Telstra mean NRL, AFL, racing and V8 Supercars – and news, then this is great. If you don’t – or you like other sports – then maybe not so much.
If you’re not sure about the whole Foxtel for Xbox 360 setup, Telstra are giving you the opportunity to try it for free for the month of June (excluding potential data costs if you’re not with BigPond). If you’re already using the service, you’ll get a free month of showtime or Movie Network movies, just so you don’t feel like you’re missing out.
