NVIDIA announces standalone 3D goggles

Ze goggles - zay are now standalone! NVIDIA releases a wired version of its much-touted 3D tech.

We've yet to be sold on 3D, but a lot of gamers out there swear by it. They - and anyone curious but not yet wedded to NVIDIA's existing wireless solution, will be happy to hear that NVIDIA's just announced a new and cheaper version.

The latest iteration of the 3D Vision glasses offer a wired solution, utilising a ten-foot USB2 cable to a compatible PC.

Possibly more important, though, is the price drop. The new glasses are only $US99, comnpared to $US149 for the previous, wireless version.

“3D Vision provides gamers and enthusiasts with the world’s largest ecosystem of 3D products and features,” said Phil Eisler, general manager of 3D Vision at NVIDIA. “3D fans have been waiting for more affordable glasses, and we’re expecting our new 3D Vision wired glasses to hit the sweet spot for them.”

Sounds alright; Been a few times I'd install a recently bought game thats 3D vision ready, only to realise that I've forgotten to recharge my wireless glasses.

does cheaper mean they will necessitate the purchase of the optional extra vomit bag?
