As another one bites the dust, we round up the weeks best bits of news. This week: Akira, The Dark Knight Rises (maybe) and more...
It’s been a pretty big news for comic fans this week, with the announcement that the DC Universe will be completely rebooted this coming September. Check out the details – and a bunch of commentary on what that actually means – here.
While we’re in the DC, er, universe, we’ve also got news that Paramount may be looking to adapt The Mighty – a lesser-known superhero with a more interesting backstory than most. We’re intrigued, and kinda hoping this doesn’t get lost in the coming onslaught of comic book movies.
Akira fans are breathing a little easier after recent news that the reboot is unlikely to happen (and unlikely to include Keanu Reeves). And they might find themselves downright giddy at this little bit of art – the ultimate Akira poster.
By the time you read this, the following link may have been declared bunkum by the internet, or Christopher Nolan, or… everyone else. Or it may actually be the first videos you’re going to see from the ultra-secretive Dark Knight Rises camp. We’re not going to commit ourselves to a view either way… just in case.
Things that are probably real include these two new bits footage from Captain America: The First Avenger, which is getting a decent amount of buzz so far – based on not very much, given it’s out next month.
And if you like your movies a little more on the indie side – but still solidly sci-fi – check out the first full trailer for Sol, and then prepare not to get too excited, as this one hasn’t even got a distributor yet.
Like Torchwood? Like Buffy, Dollhouse and Tru Calling? Well, Buffy and Dollhouse, anyway? Then you will probably be pleased to hear that Eliza Dushku has signed up to appear in an animated Torchwood web spin-off. Ok, ‘appear’ might not be the right word, but still… yay?
And finally, this weeks dose of youtube weirdness, courtesy of cute little lamb, Adobe AfterEffects, and someone out there with way, way too much time on their hands. This may disturb, but we assure you no lambs were harmed in its making.
