E3 is almost upon us!

E3 2011: We're about to embark on the biggest gaming adventure of the year - it's game on for the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011!

So, it’s the day before, the day before E3 kicks off.

It’s an elliptical way of putting things, but the way E3 works these days; before the show starts, many of the big names in gaming have their pre-show press-conferences so they can get their big announcements out without getting lost in the incredible background noise that E3 generates.

What this means in terms the average Aussie reader of this site can get, is that it’s Sunday in the US as I post this, and tomorrow we’ll be attending major press conferences of Ubisoft, Microsoft and Electronic arts. Will Ubi finally make official what folks have been talking about for a while now – a combined uber-game that wraps all of the Tom Clancy properties together into one massively multiplayer extension of hyper-modern warfare? Will Microsoft announce its next next-gen console? Just how big is Battlefield 3 going to be?

Who knows, but if you want to know what happens, as it happens, tune in here. Like last year, we’re going to do out best to live-blog each press event as it happens. Fair warning, though – typing and posting in a live environment is a fraught affair, so forgive us any lapses in spelling and grammar!

So that’s Monday. On Tuesday, the show itself kicks off, and we’ll be doing our best to present every game we see on a daily basis, usually as we clock off the show floor and head back to our hotel room. If we can we’ll also be posting shots from the show itself.

Then, once we’re back, we’ll be writing up a larger piece for the magazine, wherein we talk our picks of Best in Show.

But, if you want the biggest picture of what’s going to be happening during the week, make sure to read as many sources as you can. There’ll be news and announcements happening all through the show, and we’re guaranteed to miss a lot of it – we’re just one person at a show that has hundreds of exhibitors, after all.

However, if there’s something you want to us to ask EA, Ubisoft, Activision, THQ, 2K or any of the other publishers we’re booked in to chat to over the week, let us know, and we’ll do our best to make sure you’re question’s answered.

Yes, Tinbane, we’re thinking of you and Heroes of Might and Magic :)

So there you go – Atomic at E3. Maybe not the most comprehensive, but arguably the most personal.

Game on!
