Friday Linky Fun

While the cat's away, the mice may play, but we're not delinquent enough to ignore our linky responsibilities. This week: Tron, XMen and more...

First off this week, we’ve got the latest on the Tron: Legacy sequel, which has been up in the air for some time. Now, we liked Tron Legacy – it was a cheesy timewaster, but a very fun cheesy timewaster. We’re not sure it needs a sequel though (then again, we don’t think many films need sequels, and Hollywood keeps disagreeing with us).

And while we’re in movieland, it looks like Roland Emmerich – the man behind such ‘classics’ as 2012, Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow has been tipped to direct the upcoming film adaptation of Asteroids, that arcade game you probably played when you were a kid. Hmmm, let me guess… asteroids head towards earth and a band of plucky (and lantern-jawed) citizens have to save us all?

There’s also some interesting news coming from the set of the Avengers, which Stargate fans in particular might enjoy…

Now that XMen First Class is out there, we can no longer bring you a new clip from it every week, but we can bring you this little ditty, and apologise in advance for the earworm. And then we can follow that up with this interview with some people who were involved in the movie, for your reading pleasure.

Super 8 has been out for no time at all and is already doing the usual thing that all JJ Abrams projects do and thoroughly dividing public opinion. We’ve not seen it yet to weigh in, but in the meantime, we’re enjoying this uncut viral video. Which contains spoilers, so click at your own risk.

And because it’s not all big studios and superstars around here, we’ve got the first trailer for upcoming Canadian ‘minimalist sci-fi black comedy’ (their words, not ours) Hellacious Acres: The Case of John Glass. This… could be funny.

Over in the world of comic books and superheroes, everyone is still all abuzz about the upcoming DC reset. Adding fuel to the fire are some leaked art shots, which give you an idea of the new directions that your favourites are going to take. Oh, and they also reveal some of the new costumes you can expect to see them in…

And finally, there’s been a lot of speculation about what exactly fans can expect from the second season of The Walking Dead. And the latest gossip points us firmly in the direction of… dun dun DUN… Zombies. Er, yay?

Now, we’re off to get David’s desk all “cleaned up” for his return from E3 on Tuesday. Superglue and whoopee cushions at the ready...
