Battlefield 3 pre-order goodies going nuts!

EA announce a whole mess of new pre-order incentives, and our heads explode - but in a good way.

It might not be slated for release until some time in October, but EA are ramping up the pre-order stakes on Battlefield 3 already – which, given our excitement about the release, is not a bad thing at all.

Today we’ve been told that the Physical Warfare Limited Edition is now available to pre-order through EB Games. The Limited Edition includes a mass of (mostly) in-game goodies, including a Type 88 light machine gun with bipod, the SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor, and the lethal armor-piercing flechette ammo for the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun – all of which will help you take out opponents in with maximum awesomeness. You’ll also get day-one access to the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun itself (which is useful, given all that armour-piercing ammo you’ll have).

Of course, that’s not all. The Physical Warfare pack also includes the Back To Karkand expansion pack, which gives you access to four of the most popular maps from Battlefield 2, including Strike at Karkand, the Sharqi Peninsula and Gulf of Oman, all recreated to utilise all the wonder of the Frostbite 2 engine.

And, because we know some of you like something you can hold, the whole thing comes bundled up in a collectible Battlefield 3 Steelbook case.

EA tell us that this pre-order is exclusive to EB Games, but we know a Physical Warfare LE was announced for GAME some time back, so maybe check out which retailer will give you the best goodies before you buy.

Speaking of retailers who aren’t EB, today’s news doesn’t end there. EA have also announced the SPECACT Kit, which gives you eight unique multiplayer skins to play with, for maximum customisation. The SPECACT Kit is free with any standard or Limited Edition version of the game pre-ordered from today onwards at either JB Hi-Fi or GAME.

Of course – because EA really want to make our heads hurt with options today – that not as confusing as it gets. If you get the SPECACT Kit through GAME, you’ll also score five downloadable dog tags, which will give you even more customisation options, as well as making you look like an awesome badass whenever you get a kill. Or, if you’re an Xbox person, and you go through JB HiFi, you’ll receive free exclusive gear for your Xbox 360 avatar.

In short: EA would like you to pre-order Battlefield 3, so go! Spend money! We'll be having a little lie down in the corner while we process all these choices...
