It's been a huge week around the Atomic offices, what with shipping David off to mysterious lands and all, and how better to end it than with links?
We’re all about videos this week but we feel like we should probably get the weeks big news out of the way before we get stuck into the spectacle and silliness ahead.
The thing is, sometimes when we say ‘big’ we mean… relatively. To the other news of the week. Maybe. Such is the case with the announcement of the Jurassic Park trilogy coming to Blu-Ray in October. Jurassic Park was a huge movie – don’t get us wrong – but somehow this feels like the redheaded ‘me too’ stepchild to the massive news that was Star Wars on Blu-Ray earlier this year.
A little more exciting, for some anyway, as a first look at Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman costume from The Dark Knight Rises. We’re not sure this is the entire costume – the poor girl seems to be missing her pants – but it’s already an improvement on Halle Berry’s recent get-up.
Also this week, the AV Club is telling us that Thor will be back for a sequel some time in 2013, although without Kenneth Branagh, who we assume will be heading back to his usual territory of Shakespeare and sweeping English period drama. Fans of Chris Hemsworth – and much of the female population of geekdom – will be glad to hear that he will be returning.
Finally, on the news front, it looks like this years San Diego Comic Con might be a little more exciting than most, with fans organizing a mass protest at the upcoming reset of many of DC Comics titles. We’d happily take a trip out there and report on events as they unfold, but sadly, the Atomic budget doesn’t quite stretch that far…
And now! Videos!
First off, we’ve got the latest trailers for Cowboys and Aliens – which is still looking rather awesome – and Mission Impossible 4, which we’re not quite sold as yet. Thankfully, they’ve still got a few months to convince us, and we do like Simon Pegg, but does the idea of Tom Cruise having a writing credit worry anyone else?
Game of Thrones recently wrapped up its first series (in the US at least), and we know plenty of you are already cursing how short American Cable seasons are and counting down to Season Two. In the meantime, we were amused by this trailer, re-imagining the show as a buddy comedy.
And before we clock off for the week, we thought we should ensure that you were all across Plot Device – a great short film that’s been doing the rounds of the internet for the past day or so. It’s got everything you could possibly want from a film… and plenty you were probably hoping never to see again. Definitely worth a cheeky Friday afternoon watch!
