A quick reminder that you that if you care about the R18+ rating for games, you have something you should be doing right about now.
We don’t like like having to tell anyone what to do, and, hell, we are well aware that most of you out there probably hate being told what to do. Especially by the media.
BUT we thought it might be worth pointing out that public submissions on the Australian Law Reform Commission’s review of the classification system are closing on the 15th of July. That’s this Friday. If you care about the R18+ rating for games, and generally getting a more coherent and fair classification system across all media, then you should go here and have your say.
It is a bit of an unfriendly process – you have to register, then look at the Issues Paper, then answer a whole bunch of questions, and the site is apparently struggling at the moment, so they indicate emailing a submission might be the way to go – but we think it’s well worth your time. If you start wanting to put this into the too-hard basket, just think of the think-of-the-children brigade, and how much free time they seem to have when it comes to these things.
As well as filling out the submission form yourself, you can also take a lead from some of the folks in our forums and help spread the word. Now get to it, people.
