Batman: Arkham City Collector's Edition looking sweet

Looking for a limited edition that's more than just a bit of extra in-game content? Look no further...

As you may have noticed, most of us around these parts are pretty excited about Batman: Arkham City. David and co. got up close and personal with it at E3, and what they saw did not fail to impress. And those of us left behind have been hearing (and seeing) very good things.

That continues today, as Warner Bros. release details of just what is going to make up the games Collectors Edition – and, unlike many a special edition that gets announced these days, this one actually looks, well, like a proper collector's edition.

For a start, you get real, limited-edition things that you can hold and look at and play and put up on your shelf. Those things include:

  • A custom Batman statue produced by Kotobukiya
  •  A collectible art book
  • Batman: Gotham Knight – a DC Universe animated movie
  • Four collectors cards

all of that comes packaged up in a very cool box – with a copy of the game, of course.

And because there is no escaping that this is the age of digital content, WB are also throwing in early access to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map and a Batman: The Dark Knight Returns skin, and a digital copy of the Batman: Arkham City album.

Of course, including actual collectibles in a proper Collector’s Edition does tend to lead to a Collector’s Edition price – and this is no exception. Warner Bros are telling us that the Batman: Arkham City Collector’s Edition will be retailing for $149.95 – which could make some eyes water. If yours are still dry, or you just can’t resist a good statue-and-art-book package, then you might want to pre-order this from your preferred retailer sooner rather than later – we’re told stocks are strictly limited.
