It was always going to happen. Any reference to Anders Behring Breivik being a gamer was inevitably going to be pounced on, either by an ignorant mainstream media or by the vocal opponents of violent video games, and yesterday it was revealed that the man behind the Oslo massacre was in fact a gamer.
Thankfully, two local game journos were immediately on the case, and both Mark Serrel's Kotaku article and Nick Ross' piece on the ABC Technology + Games site are excellent counters to any anti-game hysteria.
With Australia on the eve of finally achieving an R18 rating for games, these articles are doubly important. Give them both a read.
