Is Ubisoft changing its DRM spots?

Ubisoft announces a change in PC DRM practice for one current one future release - is this the way of the future?

It's not a lot to go on, at the moment, but Ubisoft may well be undergoing a change in its PC DRM policy. It's recently announced via Facebook that two new and upcoming games will not require a constant internet connection to play.

From Dust, which has just been made available on Steam, and Driver San Francisco (pushed back to September) will only need a connection for authentication. Both will be playable in single-player while offline.

Ubisoft's DRM on past games such as Silent Hunter V caused a huge controversy amongst gamers, we're hoping this signals a turnaround for the company. We've contacted Ubisoft to confirm, but with Gamescom on our inside man is a little swamped. Stay tuned.
