The game that launched a thousand (and then some) PC upgrades is coming to console at last. this should be interesting...
Everyone has a mess of stories about Crysis. There's the gameplay ones, that were engendered by the then under-appreciated open nature of the game (we have our own tale here), and the many upgrade stories, driven by the fact that Crysis was simply too big a game for any system of the time. Ah, fun times, always chasing that next bump in FPS...
Now, console diehards will get to see what all the fuss was about, and maybe even catch up on where Crysis 2 kinda started, as an updated and ehanced version of the game will be coming out on Xbox 360 and PS3 in October - just next month! The game will cost 1800 Microsoft points (a bit over $25, I think).
“We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality – and still is for many gamers even four years later,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek, in today's release. “By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.”
We'll certainly be curious to see how the open environments translate to console. Assuming we're not too busy dedicated our lives, firstborn, and immortal souls to Battlefield 3.
