Digital distribution service Desura has launched a great funding project for small game developers - this is something we should all get behind.
We like Desura. The brainchild of the guys behind modDB and indieDB, it's a great distribution service that ties together smaller developers, modders, and the games they love, into a fully interlinked package. Now, Desura's going one step further to support developers with Alphafunding.
Alphafunding works on a crowdsourcing model not disimilar from Kickstarter. However, apart from allowing developers access to all-important dollars, it also offers those willing to support a game early access, and input into its development.
"Alphafunding fills the void between the idea phase and the pre-order / release phase," said Scott Reismanis, founder of Desura, in today's release. "Digital distribution is an amazing medium for getting access to content early. Alphafunding includes the gamers in the development of the product, not only from a financial perspective, but gives them the opportunity to contribute toward the design and development process."
Nice one, Desura! For more info clicky here.
