Gallery: The makers of RUSE are bringing classic Cold War wargaming to the PC, and we cannot wait.
Like many warnerds, I kinda miss the Cold War days.
Back then, it was all so neat and clean. We all expected that one day war would flare up between NATO and the Warsaw Pact countries, that tanks would rush through the Fulda Gap, carrier fleets would mass in the Antlantic Ocean, and submarines would actually be useful. These days, war's a sad mess - hell, a dinghy with some C4 and a Dick Smith RC car can put a hole into a modern missile cruiser!
Pah!
Thankfully, weirdos like me can still wargame our dreams into semi-reality. And right now, Eugen Systems - the guys who delivered the technically brilliant but flawed RUSE - are working on polishing Wargame: European Escalation. Focusing on that golden period on the 80s when we still thought two modern armies might clash, the game pits NATO against the Warsaw Pact in glorious 3D with massive zoom levels and hundreds of authentic units.
The game's out in November this year, but for now, have a look at these four new pics. You can get more info on the game here.
