Trailer: Four player co-op is coming to Mass Effect, and we really want it to work. But we're just not sure...
So, the cat is now well and truly out of the bag. The lucky gang over at PC PowerPlay got to break the global news, and now it's everywhere.
Multiplayer is coming to Mass Effect 3.
The four player co-op mode will be called Galaxy at War, and it's going to tie directly in to your singleplayer experience, as the video below, from BioWare's own Pulse channel, shows. In the co-op mode you play a special forces type in the war against the Reapers, and your success in securing resources feeds into the ending of your singleplayer campaign; it's part of your Shepard's gaming canon.
Man... I love Mass Effect. Outside of the Halo series, its the game that I find possibly the single most emotive experience in gaming. I love co-op multiplayer, and I do enjoy the combat in Mass Effect - so I really want the two to work together. And I even like the idea of my spec-ops performance making it more likely to keep my crew alive (I lost a LOT of people in ME2)... But this is the last effort, and the idea of BioWare dropping the ball on this one terrifies me.
I'm not a journalist here, I'm just a gamer wanting one of my favourite games of all time to deliver an ending worthy of the epic series.
So watch the trailer, and let us know what you think.
