EA has just announced a massive sales figure for Battlefield 3, great review results, and general happiness. And fair enough!
Five million units.
That's how many copies of Battlefield have sold in the first week of the game's release. It's no Call of Duty mountain of cash, but it still counts as the single-fastest selling game in EA's history. So, EA is pretty damn pleased.
It should also be pleased at its reception on PC. Our beloved platform is currently scoring nicely above the console version, and we're personally sure it's going to have permanent space on our system for years to come. We like to think that this is proof-positive that a game developed for the PC market, where the game is obviously much, much better on the PC, can still be a raging success.
EA also went on to acknowledge, in today's announcement, that while some stability issues were encountered, that game has enjoyed a mostly clear launch. We've certainly had few issues, if any, and it's obvious that the game's being tweaked regularly. Indeed, "With a commitment to support the game as a software service, EA is listening to consumer feedback and is making daily updates and improvements to ensure an optimal online experience for all."
Damn straight.
