The starting line-up of Melbourne's Blip Festival announced

There's only one place to catch some of the best chip-music-makers this February, and that's at Blip Festival Australia!

We talked up the Blip Festival Australia last September, and now we can announce some more details on the epic line-up of chip-music outfits you can see at the event, when it kicks off in Melbourne this February.

But, first, you might be wondering... what is chip music?

Chip music retasks the sound hardware from classic platforms as diverse as Commodore 64s and classic Game Boys, and turns them into musical instruments. It's bleepy, electronic, and often amazingly creative. If your taste in music runs to the electronic, or if you're just a fan of retro game sounds, it's something you might want to look into.

That's what you can expect at the Blip Festival Australia, with the following bands recently announced as headling the two day festival:

  • 7bitHero (BNE)
  • 10k (SYD)
  • Abortifacient (SYD)
  • Batsly Adams (US)
  • Bit Shifter (US)
  • Derris-Kharlan (MEL)
  • Dot.AY (MEL)
  • _ensnare_ (UK)
  • Hally (JP)
  • iLKke (SYD)
  • Lazerbeat (UK)
  • little-scale (ADE)
  • Nullsleep (US)
  • Patric Catani (DE)
  • Saitone (JP)
  • Trash80 (US)
