Have you pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic at EB Games? Then today might be your lucky day... UPDATED with EA comment.
Good news for Star Wars fans - it seems EB Games are importing from overseas and are going to be filling pre-orders today.
Mark Serrels over at Kotaku broke the news, but when we read the piece we couldn't resist wandering up the road to the EB Games store at North Sydney and having a look-see ourselves.
As of 10am, there are no copies but pre-order dummies on the shelves, but when we asked the staffer, we were told copies were expected by midday today.
"We're going to be folling pre-orders first," he told us, and we're pretty sure he took a few calls about the game's status while we were waiting, too. "They're overseas copies, but they have been tested and they work just fine, but you'll be playing on American servers." So at least EB's being totally up front about the situation to the public.
The game will be retailed for $78, and we were told, "We're filling pre-orders first, and will probably have a couple of copies left over". This suggests this isn't a small exercise, either, and that EB is bringing quite a quantity of the game into shops.
We're waiting on EA for a comment, but we're guessing we could be waiting a while. So, Atomicans - any of you guys getting good news today?
UPDATE: As expected, EA has gotten back to us with: "No comment. We are investigating the situation." Our guess - they are mightily pissed off.
