When is it coming? What will happen when it gets here? Just what plans does EA have for The Old Republic's Australian release?
I can say, without any hyperbole, that Star Wars: The Old Republic has managed to rather nearly split gamers right down the middle.
Well, perhaps not the middle, but there is a very definite split. It's between those who have either bougth the game via Amazon already, or had their pre-orders filled by EB Games' recent grey-import bonanza, and are playing now, and those gamers who - like me - are waiting for a local 'official' release.
However, getting info on that long-awaited day is not unlike pulling teeth. From a Gundark.
We had been thinking the game was coming sooner, rather than later, and that it would be out some time in March. Now... I'm not so sure. We regularly receive release schedules from all the major publishers, and when we got one from EA last week, we were excited, then kind of confused.
Sure, The Old Republic had finally been added to the schedule (it has literally not been on any of EA's forecasts before this), but there is no release date. Apparently, the full announcement is still being vetted by Lucasarts.
Obviously there's a lot to be sorted out, from new pre-order incentives to special editions to local support (at the moment, Bioware is thankfully taking support calls from Australian players, and doing very well, too, according to Josh the Video Guy). And EB's move must have certainly complicated matters. But still... it's more than a little nervewracking.
I know a lot of Atomicans are playing, but am I the only one waiting this out?
