The biggest gaming store in the world has gone mobile, but does Steam on your phone make any sense?
After what might be shortest beta program in gaming history, Valve's new mobile version of Steam - imaginatively named Steam Mobile - has gone live.
Well, it still says it's in Limited Beta, but anyone can download the app, so it's kinda moot. And I'm getting 'account not in beta' errors, so your own mileage may vary.
Regardless of my own tech-fail, Steam Mobile let's you do almost everything you'd normally do on Steam, but without being tethered to your computer. You can stay up to date with sales, game news, community activity, chat with friends, and even buy games right away - it sounds pretty neat. Sadly, you can't queue up any new purchases to start downloading while you're out indulging with the real world - you still have to do that manually on your main gaming machine.
Steam Mobile is currently available for Andriod and iOS devices.
