As Ubisoft makes some hardware changes serverside, PC gamers will be unable to play some of Ubi's biggest titles.
Oh, Ubisoft, you whacky publisher, you.
I really have a love-hate relationship with Ubisoft. On the one hand, the developer/publisher makes some great games, and I have some good friends there. On the other hand, the company seems to really hate PC gamers, and generally seems interested in driving them to piracy - or worse, buying a console*!
From the 7th of February, Ubisoft's undergoing a server transition, and as part of the process some of their games will simply stop working. For how long, Ubi's not saying. And it's not as if they're small games, either - we're talking Tom Clancy's HAWX 2, Might & Magic: Heroes 6 and The Settlers 7 on PC, and Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell Conviction and The Settlers on Mac, not to mention the entire Uplay service.
All because of Ubisoft's horrible DRM implementation.
It is so frustrating. There are great games in Ubi's stables, and more great games to come (I am really stoked about Ghost Recon: Future Soldier), but Ubisoft's making it harder and harder to enjoy its games on the platform of my choice.
Come on, Ubi! Stop this shit!
* I kid!
