This is why Ubisoft's DRM setup is a terrible idea - when things go wrong that even Ubi cannot foresee, it's proof the company needs another solution.
So much for Ubisoft's claims that its recent server migration wouldn't affect Anno 2070 or Driver San Francisco in singleplayer - they went offline overnight, and the issue's only just been fixed. Or at least, 'should' have been, according to an Ubisoft tweet.
Even Ubi itself sounds unsure.
Here at Atomic, we do not condone piracy of any kind, and though a lot of folks feel Ubisoft's terrible DRM is a reason to resort to good old Uncle Torrence, there's actually a more effective and bold option.
Just don't buy DRMed games. That sends a far stronger message.
Speaking of DRM and Ubi, though, at least there's some good news - it appears the upcoming Ghost Recon Online, which is PC only, will not only be free to play, but DRM-free as well. Now, if Ghost Recon: Future Soldier can follow the same route, we'll be happy.
