Empire Earth III announced

Could this be a new golden age for Real Time Strategy?

It's all going on in RTS land! Supreme Commander is landing now and the world is abuzz at the prospect of another C&C 3.

Sierra has just committed to a third game in its Empire Earth series. Empire Earth III is due around "spring" this year.

It's developed by Mad Doc Software, a house famed for hardcore AI programming. Mad Doc did Empire Earth II, and its addon The Art of Supremacy.

The developer is headed up by Dr Ian Davis, who we interviewed about AI in games.

Besides tricky AI, the Empire Earth series is famous for running all the way from the stone age to armies of the future.
