In this golden age, when technology delivers us new miracles daily, we have learned to treat what were once wonders as mere commodity items. Take the Robopet, for example. A robot dog that does a pretty good job of fooling people into thinking it thinks for itself. Are we amazed? Astounded? Completely blown away? Not really. Another day, another robot dog.
Now, give us a ten-buck pack of little stickers with Teflon on one side, and we think it's the greatest thing since Teflon-coated frying pans. Whack these babies on the underside of your mouse and it feels like you've turbo-charged your PC.
Equally impressive is noise-cancelling headphone technology. God bless science. With these you can shut out anything -- or anyone. Or at least pretend to. "I'm sorry I can't hear you, I'm wearing my parent-cancelling headphones."
This week when we do feel like thunderous noisiness, we've taken to the skies in the wonderful new Heroes of the Pacific. It's out on PC, Xbox and PS2 and it's even Aussie made. If you're in the mood for some flight combat action, this one comes with our hearty approval.
