Chips are so hot right now, and we’re all over them salt on hot spuds. AMD’s luke-warm AM2 launch and Intel’s scorching hot Conroe CPU are the talk of the town. The fanboys are bashing each other over the heads in the CPU forums, and it’s only going to get hotter.

As we move to a multi-core solution, or to put it another way, ‘we’ve freakin juiced them up as far as they’ll take it, so from now on we’ll just start cramming loads of 2.4GHz cores onto a single die until we get optical technology figured out’.

This week on the Atomic site there’s Craig’s review of AMD’s hot new AM2 wedge in the market – the FX-62. While he’s at it he doesn’t miss the chance to whack himself over the head with a mobo to match – Gigabyte’s stormin’ GA-M59SLI-S5.

Eat it up, and prepare for more because the September issue of Atomic features a chunky roundup of AM2 boards. Craig’s in the labs as we speak torture-testing them and himself.

In the meantime, as usual, there’s plenty of daily goodstuff to read on the Atomic site. There’s regular selections from the current magazine issue, plus special features just for the site.
