I read that thread! Friday, 27th April 2007

Today we give you another new feature for the atomic forums. We call it Read Threads. It’s designed as an easy way for you to get a quick visual update on which threads have been posted in since you last looked.

It works a lot like your email inbox.

As has always been the forum style, all thread titles are in bold. But from now on, threads you’ve 'read' will switch to non-bold in the forum list. Unread threads will remain as bold.

If someone posts to a previously 'read' thread, it goes back to bold again.

So it's an easy tracker for seeing if a thread has been updated, instead of having to look at the 'who posted last' column.

Handy too if you've been away for a time and want to see if a thread you've been in is still breathing.

You can also 'mark all as read' on any forum page, too. That’s an option you can use to see which threads are going off when you join a new session, or get a quick idea about forum activity overall when you log in. Or any other tricky use you can devise for your forming convenience and joy.

You can turn off the feature completely in your User Profile if you’d prefer to keep things the way they always were.

Coming soon – even more stuff!

Ben
