Editor's Note

We're getting to the pointy end of the year, now. We've just finished work on the last issue of the year, our office Xmas Party is tomorrow (I expect a lampshade on my head in about 24 hours' time), and this is the very last Atomic Newsletter of 2008.

But fear not, it's packed full of stuff, and we'll be even bigger and better next year!

This last week has seen supa-sekrit pictures and news released of NVIDIA's next graphics powerhouse - the GTX 295. Will the green giant ever slow down? Will it get the edge over ATI? Only time - and the probable launch at CES will tell.

While we're waiting for that, though, we still have enough time on our hands to enjoy some gaming - and that's what James Matson and I have been up. We've also been talking up the last few months in the MMO world, and what games we're still subscribing too and which ones have fallen to the wayside.

Finally, Ashton Mills gets into the nitty gritty of the SSD revolution. These fast drives are great, but are they perfect? Can modern OSes even handle them? Ashton reveals all...

Lastly, our forums have seen their usual array of heated discussions - and far ranging ones, too! Top of the pops are robzy's thread on the Linux OS, TheFrunj's What's on Your Mind thread is still abuzz with thoughts, and we learn that the power of a thrown shoe is always immense.

And if you're not a member, you should be, so you can join in all the fun.

Merry Xmas, and a Happy New Year!

-David Hollingworth, Editor
