Editor's Note

Okay, I've calmed down somewhat from last week. Thank you one and all for the deliveries of cups of tea, valium and LN2.

The bushfires in Victoria are still fresh on everybodies' minds, though we're very happy to say it's not all doom and gloom. Fine vendors of funky tech, Anyware Computer Accessories, has decided to step up and make a difference with a massive series of cash donations to the Australian Red Cross. When we forwarded our story on to Steve Grant from Anyware, he had this to say:

"We're really proud of the company and all of our amazing staff for their generosity. We collectively wanted to do something for those people impacted by such a horrific event and throw down the challenge to other channel participants. We genuinely hope our efforts can a difference in some way, shape or form. I just wanted to thank you for your kind words and comments."

So there you go, channel and vendor types - take up the thrown gauntlet and lend a hand.

On top of heartfelt wishes, we've also got some heart-pounding tech and some exciting new competitions.

We've rounded up the cream of the current crop of budget graphics cards, thrashed the poor little guys half to death, and constructed a Head2Head from the remains. In short, we find out the best cheap card you can get in today's market.

On the fun side of things, we've also launched a new forum challenge - we want to see the best pictures, comics and even short films that you can create with the help of Garry's Mod for Half Life 2. Check out the story below for more details.

And, finally, we're super-chuffed to be able to present The Atomic Hot 100 - a poll to discover and celebrate the best moments in tech, gaming and the Atomic community at large. There are some very unique - and very Atomic - prizes on offer, so get your votes in soon!

Anyway, you've got a lot to get through below this, so you should get to it.

Ciao!

- David Hollingworth, Editor, Atomic
