ZOMG! Almost 2kg of pure Copper!
Most enthusiasts are already aware of the current favourite in air cooling – the Thermalright 120 Extreme cooler. That cooler weighs in at an impressive 790g of aluminium fins, and a nickel-plated base. Most would think that would be enough – but there’s where you’re wrong.
Thermalright have one-upped themselves with sheer brilliance, creating a limited edition of this cooler
entirely out of copper!
The damn thing weighs 1900g, and the astounding amount of copper used in construction is phenomenal. Not only is it an increase in weight by a staggering 2.4 times, but the price is also set quite high, at US$100-110. Most coolers might give you a copper base if you’re lucky – with this one you get more copper than you can poke a stick at.
There’s only going to be 2000 of these coolers manufactured worldwide so if you’ve got an idea for a mod or themed build, grab one of these coolers as well as a
matching case
and motherboard quickly. Anyone who actually does this will get a mystery prize from the Labs for the sheer awesomeness of that idea.
Check out the gallery for many more pics, and make sure you grab Issue 95 for a comparison to the old-school TRUE, detailed performance info, and our verdict on whether or not the weight of this cooler will pose a problem.

Wait a minute... Doesn't aluminum conduct heat better than Copper? I'm sure it does... >.<

1900g! :O That's some heavy shit - You'd want an industrial truss rig just to hold the damn thing on!

as i've watched these things become more and more top heavy over the years, i've been waiting for one that's going to rip the mounts right off the pcb. that, or tear a dirty great chunk out of your mobo.
