ASUS’ premium X58 motherboard, dripping with new and old-school features.

ASUS have been making its 'Republic of Gamers', or ROG, boards for quite some time now. Naturally, when asked if we wanted the latest X58 iteration, our knees began quaking at the mere thought of getting near the thing – and here it is.

The entire board is drenched in features: from the gunmetal, black and red chipset cooling design, to the exclusive use of red-topped solid capacitors. Even the back panel gets this treatment, so check out the gallery for some seriously sexy pics.

Actual specifications of the board are an X58 chipet, matching NT200 chip (allowing 3x16 PCIe V2.0 SLI, or 2x16 Crossfire), seven SATA ports, six DDR3 slots and a host of exciting features that you’ll not get on any other board in the history of ever. And ever is a long time!

Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming issue with this mobo in it, but for now, check out the drool-inducing shots in our gallery.

I know you can't tell us anything until the NDA lifts... but you could you tell us out of all the Nehalem boards you have there, which one performs better then the rest? (i.e. features... overclocking, limitations? no numbers just an answer... don't even have to say why! Yet!)

I like the new Socket1366 (Socket B) especially being able to screw into the metal plate on the back, something that was sorely missing from Socket775.

I'm not into overclocking, it's quite meh, but the technology is exciting.

so can you put to slis and to crossfire cards on the same board? that'd cause a system clash.

No. You can do EITHER SLI or Crossfire. Not both! You only have 3 PCI-E slots so you can't do both.
