Fails to 'rouse our Willy.

Oh dear.

Not only did Big Willy take noticeably longer to boot, the RAID card lost drives when anything more than one GPU and 16 drives were in use. We decided that this was unacceptable, and the results we’ve printed are from this configuration, even though it would technically boot if we connected more drives than what we settled on.

Although you can’t see it from the averages we’ve posted, the twelve volt rail dipped worryingly low during startup. It was down to 11.194 volts at one point - even though the 5 and 3.3 lines were quite stable. Under load, there were a few instances where it dropped to 11.45 volts for anywhere from one to two seconds.

It’s not modular either, so unless you can summon up a small temporary black hole in which to hide the leads, you’re going to have a hard time managing the cables. And although it’s got four six-pin PCI-e power cables, it doesn’t have any eight pin ones, so if you have a graphics card that requires eight-pin power, you’ll have to resort to using whichever PCI-e eight-pin adapters happen to be included in your graphics card’s box.

Compare its performance to what it promises and you’ll find it’s really floored. And that’s a fatal flaw (*groan*), as it were.
