Xigmatek's heatsink aims to replace Thor's trusty Mjolnir hammer with something shiny enough to be a mirror...
Being both tech and history buffs here at Atomic, when we got the "Xigmatek Thor's Hammer" heatsink we really had to take pictures of it for you - it's really something special.
Thor was the God of Thunder in Norse mythology, and carried a giant hammer with him called Mjolnir that allowed him to zap his foes with lightning, throw the hammer at them and have it come back to him magically as well as (we presume) hit people very, very hard.
While the Xigmatek heatsink here isn't called Mjolnir (though Master Chief's armour from Halo was called this), it is certainly something that Norse-age folks would've coveted as something akin to a gift from the Gods - it's such a pretty piece of kit.
It's got a total of seven heatpipes, four of those are 8mm and on the bottom layer, while the remaining three are slightly smaller at 6mm and lie just above the 8mm ones. There is the Direct Touch tech here too, where the heatpipes are sanded to form the base for heat transfer benefits.
Hell, the damn thing is sturdier than Mjolnir probably would have ever been, with a great sandwiching design that reinforces each fin very well. Don't just take our word for it though - jump into the gallery to see more of Thor's Hammer and see if it stacks up.
It's compatible with mostly every socket under the sun covered - LGA1366, LGA775, AM2, 939, 754.
Oh, and check out Atomic for a full review of this kit to see if the funky design and Godlike name can give it the ability to impress where it counts.
