Taking the first sip from the can, I was met with an assault of bubbles escaping from the carbonated drink, and marching their way straight up into my brain. Naturally, I realised that I'd opened the can too quickly, and gave it a second to relax before heading back in.
The taste of the Double Hit is original green V flavour, which is an apple-esque taste mixed with syrup. Think apple toffee, but with the consistency of a liquid.
It's got a metric buttload of ingredients in here, but the most important one is the 155mg of caffeine. This is the stuff that wakes your brain up, but the energy part is provided by the sugar. There's 975kJ of energy here, and all of these ingredients are enough to get a nice awake buzz going.
Unfortunately the problem with this drink is that while the taste is nice to begin with, once you get just over halfway through the can it starts to become cloying - I found it was harder to take smaller amounts, simply gulping it down.
The smell of the drink is pretty potent too, and you can definitely tell that there's a can of V within about two metres of it (not that that's a bad thing, mind). It's a great size for a stubby holder though, where the smaller cans wouldn't fit at all.
A 500mL can of V Double Hit costs you about $3.50-$4, which is reasonable considering a normal 250mL can of V will run you $2.30.
Overall I reckon that this is a great amount of energy drink, with a nice taste and a decent enough price that should keep you going for hours.
