Computex Wrapup: Silverstone shows off their sequels to the popular Raven and Fortress cases.
SilverStone have long been known for their highend aluminium cases such as the Fortress FT01, and lately more so for their unique upended ATX case design seen in the original Raven RV01 case.
Along with every other vendor attending Computex this year, SilverStone had a lot to offer - bringing out an enhanced version of the Raven called the RV02.
It retains the same orientation as the original case, but packs in a new sleeker look on all sides as well as a complete internal redesign of both the cooling and the component installation.
Three large 180mm fans lie along the bottom of the case, bringing in fresh air past a filter and blowing directly upwards at the hot components. One 120mm fan is used at the top for exhaust, and plenty of ventilation is cut to let the heat escape quickly.
The PSU also mounts vertically in the same orientation as expansion cards, and has its own filtered intake at what would typically be the back of the case. SilverStone has also raised the roof of the RV02 to allow plenty of room for cables; even if you're using a DVI-VGA adapter.
Their decidedly less flashy Fortress FT02 case is still very impressive in this iteration, using the same piece of unibody aluminium to form a U shape; providing strength as well as some sexy curves. Inside it's much the same as the RV02, though comes with hotswappable HDD caddies in place of the Raven's more standard bays.
Each case has a good mix of features, and we're looking forwards to getting them in our Labs for full testing - until then jump into the gallery to start looking at the Raven RV02 ( or jump to the Fortress FT02 in the gallery by clicking here).
