ASUS' Sabertooth board has gone a little potty.

We've looked at a few ASUS offerings in the P55 Express range by now, with our current favourite taking the form of the P7P55D Deluxe (see the EVO here).

Their latest ultrapremium motherboard is called the Sabertooth 55i, part of "The Ultimate Force" series of motherboards that aim to use better quality components like capacitors and chokes, theoretically giving a longer life with better performance.

Most interesting here isn't the TUF branding, but rather the ceramic coating that has been applied to the heatsinks. A non-conductive form of ceramic, the theory behind it seems to be that it offers a larger surface area for heat to dissipate.

Whether this makes a difference in practice remains to be seen, and apart from the dreadful name - CeraM!X - it does set this mobo apart from the crowd by a little bit.

Head into the gallery of pics to see more of this board in action, and keep your eyes open for the full review in Issue 107.

$500... you might as well buy an i7 920 setup for that price.

Looks pretty neat but I agree with Nes on this one. I mean the only thing I can see in this board is the military design :P

ASUS are becoming money hungry. I reckon eVGA is where the money should be spent, only if I can find a eVGA board that supports 2000Mhz around $280 - $350 aka i7-920 :P

indeed the x58 just makes more sence at this price point even if the performance is down a bit from the i7 800 series... but whod complain about having an i7 lol

For that price, I hope it does not use a faulty Foxconn socket. These seems to be very dodgy with OC.

This mobo does look the part and has the features aswell but its too expensive. Also I have had to RMA 2 highend Asus baords in the past so I stay clear of ASUS now.
