Thermaltake's case gets a handle on things.

We've seen some interesting ideas for case designs in the many cases that have flown through the doors of the Labs, and one of the more practical ones is the inclusion of a big handle on the top of the case (like in the SilverStone SG04).

The Thermaltake Wing RS301 also has a handle on the top, but carries a low price of $85 made possible by the use of steel in the chassis construction and a predominantly plastic handle.

This handle appears to be more form than function, held on with plastic clips as opposed to being secured with metal screws, though for barebones systems for LANning it might be ok over short distances.

It looks pretty swish for the price, but whether the Wing RS301 can stack up to the competition remains to be seen in a full review in an upcoming Issue of the mag.

Until then, jump into the gallery of pics to check out this case in more detail.

This is exactly the same internally, as another Thermaltake Wings case I had a while back. Albeit cheeply made, had to be one of the easiest cases I've ever installed into. Tones of room for cables and extra cooling. A good option for a budget build in my opinion.

plastic handle + plastic handle clips would be main concern...how pissed would you be if it fell off while your carrying it lol!

for $85 it doesnt look too bad, though I think they could have spent 5-15 more to make the handle more secure, then it would have alot more appeal. Steel>plastic pretty much anyday...

@qwakqwak: I fully agree with the plastic handle. I can just imagine ferrying the whole thing on the way to a mate's garage only to have the plastic clips fail and smash your rig on the concrete =S

Having said that, I've got a Cooler Master Storm Scout and the handles on these are SOLID. I got my case for 139AUD the cheapest I've seen recently was 124AUD. For a 50 dollar difference the Thermaltake case looks like a real bad solution to me. It looks cheap, unrealiable and PLASTICKY.

I agree, can't go past the Scout for mobility, although the Copper True weighs it down a little ;P
