Coolermaster brings us an update to their popular CM690 case - what have they changed?

The original Coolermaster CM690 case was released in early 2008, and when we first looked at it we were quite impressed with what we saw.

Since then, Coolermaster have improved and built upon those basic building blocks, adding in features left and right that eventually have culminated in what we have here today - the Coolermaster CM690 II Advance.

It boasts a few new cooling features, filtering all over, an all-black interior and a very novel expansion card securing method, to name only a few changes.

Also debuting in the case is Coolermaster's X-Dock, a SATA HDD bay that provides some decent hot-swappable capacity.

Head into the gallery of pics to see more of this case, and keep your eyes peeled for the full review in Issue 111.

I have the cm690, great case but i'm glad the changed the power and reset buttons, they're kind of tacky on the first model and if you're doing a hard power off it can sometimes turn it back on when you release the button.

so has anyone got a price for the australian release? I've been waiting to see if I get this or the original in the pure black.

I also have the original, and I have noticed some significant changes. The improved HDD caddies. Improved ODD locks. Cable routing holes on the side of the motherboard on the tray, and the removal of that stupid lip behind it that limits cable routing. Fully black interior... no longer an optional(YES!!). Extra fan mount of the side panel. Front panel interfaces all grouped now(YES!!). Proper filters for the mesh... instead of foam.

All these good things. With on Con, no side window. Hopefully that will come later. And if it does, and is priced reasonably... I might get one.

Hi all, I bought a CM690 about six months ago and enquired with Coolermaster about getting the windowed side panel which IS available O/S. They suggested I contact the Aus Distributor and they then forwarded my enquiry to them. That was about six weeks ago but no contact yet from the Aus Distributor. sux

fliptopia - $150, or $165 for the window version.

The window version only has room for 1 fan in the side window though, as opposed to two 140's in the non-window version.

I'll be waiting for the Advanced, i reckon. Which just happens to tie in perfectly with my budget!
