Alienware's tiny ultra portable gaming laptop with as many features as full-fledged gaming rigs!

Alienware systems generally come with an astronomical price tag (perhaps owing to their otherworldly name), decent hardware in a case that looks pretty funky - but the M11x is a slightly different beast.

It's more a gaming netbook than a gaming notebook, with a price that starts around $1,299, but on show here is a pretty powerful bunch of tech.

We've got the highest specced M11x that comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300, four Gigabytes of 1066MHz DDR3, a 500GB hard drive and most importantly - an NVIDIA GT335M.

As seen on NotebookCheck, this graphics card is manufactured on a 40nm process and boasts 72 shader units - significantly higher than the GT240M with only 48 units.

While it does have a slightly slower core clock of 450MHz there is still a lot of grunt in the M11x, made even more impressive considering its 11.6" form factor.

We're pretty excited about this lappy, so jump into the gallery of pics to see more of it, and keep your eyes peeled for our full verdict.

It starts around $1299, but the one you got is the highest specced model. So how much would the one you got to play with cost?

1599 for that model, well it is beasty, and what a netbook should be, i spec'd on out to close to 7 grand, wish i had 7 grand, sulked.

I am tempted, but it's an Alienware. Which means it is a Dell. Which means anyone else could make it cheaper, or better. A core M processor would have been nice, particularly in a new product, for that price.

Nothing wrong with dell mademan. In the last couple of years they have really upped their game.

1.2k on a 11.6" gaming laptop? What a waste.
Asus' UL30JT coming up soon is much superior imo

UL30JT has a bigger screen so is less portable. It also only has a gt310. So apart from the i7, how is it superior?

11.6" laptops plug into bigger screen just fine but are easier to carry round for me. I could actually use that is a work laptop too. Oh and gaming works ok on small screens imo

The big downer is the glossy screen. I see them as just plain dumb as far as decisions go.

I've had this in work for a few weeks now (JBHIFI) and it is awesome, all the LED's are customisable and programmable. Apparently as a re-seller (not direct online) we have one of the models as a exclusive (the more gutsy model than this for the <1600 mark). The screen is surprisingly sufficient, not too small and for its intended use, not too big. No cd drive annoys me slightly. Heavy enough that you can lift the laptop screen without lifting the whole laptop when you are trying to open it, one of the great little things that just make the laptop that much more superior in design to me.

@ Mudg3 : nothing wrong with a dell?, realy improved their game?...ohh, you poor thing you..did they forget your pills again?..must have..because dells proprietary hardware connections/cables, sketchy repair servicemen (4 doa mobo's in a row...they were killing them to get paid for more callouts...) the list is endless

Just ordered one with 8Gig of ram @ 1900 bucks. Like the idea of a "netbook" sized lappy that won't die when outputted on a large external monitor.
