Verdict:
Solid features, hopefully with sound to match.

Unboxing: Sennheiser attempts to conquer the gaming market with a set of astoundingly feature rich headphones... They certainly look the part!

Sennheiser are generally better known as a premium audio brand, rather than a heavy-hitter in the gaming field. The company is looking set to change all that with it's latest G4ME1 (and, really, can we lose the 1337speak already? It sucks to type!) range of gaming headsets.

We're in the middle of reviewing the 333D model in the range, and so far... wow. On feature-set alone these are a set of cans worth looking at. There's a huge length of cable, boom mic with built in mute, on-enclosure volume control, Dolby 7.1 support, and - a truly unique feature - a swivel-mount on the right-hand enclosure that's designed to allow team comms in a LAN situation.

We've put together a quick unboxing so you can see the headset for yourself, but check out our full review in issue 124, on sale next month.

If these are anything like the pair that come with the Xense kit, I'll pass. :P

Oh very very nice. Sennheiser make consistently great headphones across all price points.

I use my Sennheiser HD280 Pro's full closed cup phones for serious game work - the sound is totally amazing - they are just a bit heavy and tight for a long gamimng session and can get a little uncomfortable especially when you wear glasses.

Will definetly be checking these puppies out. Having said that I did get myself a set of Creative Fatality headphones just for gaming as they have the mike and are nice and light. They are good phones. But they are an open style so not so good for others around. And the difference beyween those and the HD280's is like night and day. But they are still good phones.

Any idea on price yet? Isnt it about time Atomic did a really good headphones update 'hint hint?

Ah "GhostFaceKilla" good point as a glasses wearer I'd like that factored in the review. So atomic find us a glasses wearing geek to assist in the review process.
