Vaughan has been in the IT industry for 19 years, initially in IT distribution in Los Angeles before moving into the solution provider side as a network engineer and then technical sales. He then moved into sales management roles for large solution providers/systems integrators in the US before moving back to his home country of New Zealand in 1996 as general manager of a leading eCommerce company. In 2001, he returned to the US on a consulting contract. He joined Tech Pacific New Zealand (now Ingram Micro) in 2004 as brand manager for Kingston until his appointment with Kingston as regional manager for Australia & New Zealand in February 2007.

Vaughan earned an Associates Degree in Marketing (with honours) from CDS in Pennsylvania (1991) and holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business (2005) and a Masters of Management Degree (2007) from the University of Auckland.

Emmanuele Silanesu joined Samsung Electronics Australia in January 2009 in a newly created role as Business Manager of Samsung Notebooks, acting as the product manager for this category. Emmanuele has many years experience within this market and his appointment is key to the success of this new Samsung product category locally. Recently in July Emmanuele was promoted to National Product & Marketing Manager for the IT division, including products such as Monitors, Notebooks, Printers, Hard Drives and Optical Drives.

Emmanuele joins Samsung from ASUS Australia where he worked as National Retail Manager, Australia and New Zealand, responsible for managing the development, marketing, manufacturing, and sales of notebooks, desktop and LCD monitor product categories. Previous to this he worked as notebook product manager also at ASUS Australia.

Dr Peta Wyeth: Course Coordinator: Bachelor of Games Development & Interactive Entertainment

Peta has wide-ranging experience in the application of human-computer interaction (HCI) and interaction design techniques for technology development in education and entertainment. Her research explores the use of tangible and mobile technology to create new interactive experiences for children and the intellectually disabled. Peta has been involved in international collaborative projects with the University of Nottingham, the University of Sussex and the Institute of Education, London which involved design, development and evaluation of ubiquitous technology within educational contexts. Peta's research in investigating computer gaming engagement has led to the GameFlow framework for understanding immersion in gaming experiences. She has been involved in the international RoboCup Junior initiative, a very successful robotics-based outreach activity aimed at promoting technology skills to school students. Peta holds a Bachelor of Information Technology, University of Queensland (1992), Postgraduate Bachelor of Information Technology (1st Class Honours), University of Queensland (1995), and PhD (Computer Science), University of Queensland (2003).
