Pros:
For one the animations in GH:WT are more varied then before so each song will have more specific moves, characters will rock more authentically to heavy songs and step more lightly to softer ones, any character can play any instrument and they have included, from what I can tell, most of the characters from previous games.

The additional gameplay element of strumming open bars in the bass guitar parts (not holding any buttons when stumming) is a more accurate recreation of playing the bass guitar.
The microphone also lacks the lag which plagued Rock Band in the singing parts (though I'm not sure if they've fixed this up by now), fortunately I didn't find this problem in Guitar Hero.

The drum set is more realistic in feel and setup, it should be noted that th
Cons:
There are 80 songs here and it feels like a third of those are from the 70's and 80's. Now this is a personal preference, but really, The Eagles? Steely Dan? I mean come on, they're not even novelty songs, unlike Beat it, Billy Idol and Eye of the Tiger, you get some liquor, it's a little late and everyone's shouting the lyrics, that's a party my friend, you just need four or five songs to do that, not 30 tracks, 30 tracks you avoid like a mind field.

But as a drummer that's not as big a problem as the one I have no my drum set, the red pad which is reserved mostly for the snare drum isn't registering anymore, so hitting it doesn't make a sound as it should be.
The red pad is used a lot more compared to the blue and green pad (toms), so it's seems to be damaged by const
Being introduced to the Guitar Hero series with Legends of Rock; World Tour is my second coming to the brand. Being a real drummer, World Tour had me salivating at the opportunity to play drums, and had me monstrously angry at Rock Band for waiting a year to do so. So a cold shoulder was given to Rock Band and I returned to the brand that I had come to love in it's predecessor.

Spending 350 dollars on a game may be hard for some, but not as hard as having to admit that you're not having the fun as you'd hoped for on your expensive purchase.

To start with first impressions, the look in GH:WT is a lot different then GH3, where it was once more cartoony, is now more realistic. Characters aren't as exaggerated and out of proportion, the audience looks a little more diverse, no longer the two same NPC's populating an entire room; there are less sound effects, less visual effects, Things are toned down from the characterisation I was familiar with in GH3.
World Tour is simply more 'realistic', despite maintaining it's pascal tones, yet somehow it appears to look a little more like it's rival, Rock Band(I must note that I haven't played GH1 or 2).

From the trailers of Rock Band I could tell it was going for a look with more realism, it looked a little edgier, a little darker, most importantly it had a certified vibe to it, but with the new Guitar Hero it seems to be duller. Maybe I feel this way because of it's toned down appearance from Legends of Rock and it's lacking 'edge' found in Rock Band, but I can't help and shake the feeling that Legends of Rock, unlike it's successor, had a more certified stamp to it's image, a 'ROCK' game that didn't take itself to seriously. Now I liken World Tour to a good band that's become popular, and under some mislead influence has toned down their image and sound to accomodate it's growing audience, the energy I once had for playing is no longer here, fragmented by 70's and 80's songs poisoning the track list.
Yes I know the track list is a matter of preference, but I'm sure that the illusion of rocking out has suffered from it's copious amounts of songs so 'DATED' and so 'OLD'. Is the development team under a spell? Have they read to much into a new demographic of people picking up the game that they've now littered the list of songs aimed at people in their 40's and 50's? Guitar Hero has loss it's image, it's feel, and I get no pleasure in saying this, but it's no longer a game about rock music that it feebly dresses up to be, it's now like a visceral version of Sing Star, pandering to people who probably buy TV HITS compilation CD's.
